CONTAINING THIS INTERPRETATION
The Traces gravées dans le Sable have been first
performed by See Siang Wong
on September 9th, 2009, at the Hall Hirschengraben in Zurich, during a
concert of the Musikpodium Zürich. This cycle
is dedicated to See Siang Wong.
Duration
of the work : approximately 12 minutes
Commentary of the work by the composer :
The six pieces of this cycle are inspired by texts of the Chan
tradition. The Chan is a Buddhist school implanted in China since the 6th
century. It has much influenced the thinking and the art of China, furthermore
intermingling closely with the Taoist culture.
These pieces are more meditations on texts rather than a single
description. These appeased contemplations are voluntarily bare and sober.
