Written in 2014, this work has
been commissioned by the accordionist
Sylvain Tissot, who first performed it on August 2nd, 2014, in
Fribourg and August 3rd, 2014, in Leysin.

Commentary of the work by the composer :
On the occasion of the 250th
anniversary of the death of Rameau, I have inspired myself from themes taken
from several of his works for harpsichord, successively La Poule, L’Egyptienne, Le
Rappel des Oiseaux, Les Cyclopes, L’Enharmonique and L’Entretien des Muses. Besides, I’ve used, modifying it, an harmonic
progression which Rameau used for his famous Trio des Parques, from the lyrical
tragedy Hippolyte et Aricie,
and which he describes as being of the “diatonic-enharmonic genre”. All of
these themes are freely varied and developed, therefore the title of rhapsodic variations.
